The Door (dvaar) of “Guru”

Recently we have visited Gurudwar (prayer place for Sikh religion people) at Mannhime through Malli’s house-owner. That is my first visit to Gurudwar and I was ipmpressed by the organization and initiation to arrange things such as food, room and prayers and singing  by the Sikh community people. Since then I am thinking of that place  everyday and felt like share some of my my views here.

1. On every Sunday Gurudwar is providing breakfast and lunch at least for 150 to 200 people. Don’t be surprise why I am mentioning about food very specifically. They provide a separate menu for adults and kids, where I was so impressed that they can deal very good for kids. The breakfast was followed by  huge amount of tea (which is bit unusual for south indians like me). The lunch with unlimited rotis and 3 variates of curries. That food was voluntarily prepared by local people staying at mannheim. This is every Sunday work and they are happy doing it. I also got to known that not only on Sundays but everyday they can provide food for some one who could not afford buying food here.

2. The bhajan and singing. I have seen young girls and boys were playing Tabala, harmonium (Indian Piano or key board)  and singing very nice bhajan songs. Even after being in a foreign country quite after a while they still follow their traditions and also let it train for kids. So nice and the youngsters even being so modern, not hesitated to sing in front of several people.

3. The work was well distributed so that they can maintain easily and efficiently. cooking for ladies, food serving  for youngsters and elder people maintain the other organization stuffs such as fund collection, prayers and speeches, room maintenance and others.

4. I have observed a lot of similarities between Gurudwar and Temple (physically and constructively)

7. At the end of the prayer i heard an announcement which was in Punjabi language. My neighbor devotee explained me that they are gathering donations for the welfare of education and widows in India.

In my personal opinion i strongly believe god is every where. The main backed concept of temple is sociological one. with is belief i want to say Gurudwar is the “Guru(=great)”dwar.

Finally with the quuut girl who asked me “Ganesh, Balle Balle dance karoo” .
